It’s wonderful when a couple shares the same hobby, isn’t it?
After all, not only can you share your time off together, but you can also share in the joy and discoveries that come with it.
For the record, in my own household, my wife doesn’t join me on the rides I go on, but we spend plenty of time together otherwise—going out for shopping, meals, and so on.
That said, being together 24/7 is a whole other story...
Regardless, as a bike shop, it simply makes me happy to see a couple both interested in riding bikes.
The WILDE BICYCLE Rambler SL I introduced the other day was the bike I delivered to the wife of such a couple.

And this time, I’d like to introduce the SKLAR BIKES Super Something chosen by the husband.
Main components: SHIMANO CUES

The components were matched to the wife’s Rambler SL using SHIMANO CUES throughout.
The setup features a 42T front chainring and an 11-48T rear cassette.
This combination is versatile enough for everything from leisurely couple rides and city commuting to one-day tours, longer fast-touring trips, and even gravel rides.
By the way, while the wife chose WHITE INDUSTRIES for her crank, the husband opted for the straightforward SHIMANO CUES crankset.
TRP Spyre Flat Mount Mechanical Brakes

As I touched on before, the husband enjoys tinkering with machinery, so he chose the cable-actuated TRP Spyre Flat Mount Mechanical Brake for easier self-maintenance.
The Spyre’s greatest feature is its dual-piston design, where both sides move simultaneously despite being a mechanical system.
Compared to standard single-piston mechanical disc brakes, it clamps the rotor evenly, offering superior stopping power and control, and is still highly regarded as one of the definitive forms of mechanical disc brakes.
Highly reliable THOMSON for the cockpit

For the cockpit, we’ve outfitted the bike with THOMSON components.
He chose the THOMSON Aluminum Dirt Drop Bar for the handlebar, the X4 Stem, and the Elite Seatpost.

While they may not be flashy, THOMSON parts are defined by high reliability and solid rigidity—qualities that perfectly suit a bike you intend to ride for a long time.

The CNC-machined X4 Stem and Elite Seatpost, in particular, are the absolute gold standard that have been supported by riders around the world for years. There is a peace of mind in knowing they won’t be affected by trends and will remain functional for years to come.

The Aluminum Dirt Drop Bar also features just the right amount of flare, providing a shape that’s easy to handle in a wide range of situations, from pavement to dirt.
CHRIS KING headset in Matte Jade

Boasting exceptional durability and smooth rotation, CHRIS KING is a staple part you want to choose for a bike you’ll be with for a long time.
The Matte Jade finish matches the frame color beautifully, tightening the overall look of the bike.
BROOKS Cambium C15 Carved saddle

We paired it with a BROOKS C15 Carved saddle.
The flexible ride quality unique to the natural rubber Cambium series and its ease of use regardless of weather conditions make it highly attractive.
It’s a classic saddle that provides comfort across various scenes, from daily rides to long-distance touring.
It isn’t flashy, but it’s exactly the kind of piece you want to choose for a bike you’ll use for a long time.
ASTRAL Outback wheels and ULTRADYNAMICO Cava Race tires

For the wheels, we used the ASTRAL CYCLING Outback Rim as the base, combined with SHIMANO R7000 series HB-R7070/FH-R7070 hubs.

The high reliability and easy accessibility of SHIMANO hubs fit perfectly with the concept of this bike, which aims to minimize the risk of trouble while traveling. It’s a solid choice that prioritizes practicality over flashiness.
The tires are ULTRADYNAMICO Cava Race.

Although the size is different, he chose the same model as his wife’s Rambler SL.
If you’re riding together and enjoying the same scenery, there’s something fun about aligning the ride characteristics as well.

The light, nimble feel provided by the supple casing and the versatility to handle everything from pavement to gravel are exactly right for these two bikes.
While the sizes and specs have been adjusted to their respective builds and usage, the philosophy behind them is the same.
We have completed great partners for both of them, optimized for each individual.
I hope these two bikes make their holidays ahead even more enjoyable.
