We know that whether on or off the bike, rim impacts are inevitable. Astral's impact testing is multifaceted; beyond standard tests, including UCI requirements, we conduct even higher-intensity impact tests to ensure we meet more rigorous standards.
Impacts don't happen in isolation either. What happens if you brake heavily on a carbon clincher and then hit a pothole? We account for those situations, too.
Our method involves heating the rim first and then subjecting it to impact, allowing us to verify in-house that we have covered every variable.

Astral’s stiffness testing utilizes a stiffness tester that allows for a combination of loads from multiple directions, making it possible to understand in detail how rims and wheels behave under various load configurations.
