[SIMWORKS Doppo Ronin] A Highly Versatile Bike That Answers Any Request

I love riding bikes, but I also love camping, hiking and running.

Everyone has lots of things they love.

One I've been hearing about a lot over the past few years is "fishing."

Whether what you face is the shadow of a fish or the surface of the river, the movement of the rod tip or the tiny vibrations passing into the hand gripping the rod,

I've never tried it, so I can't say. But those moments spent alone, facing something, must have something in common with the time spent on a bike, quietly turning the pedals.

Maybe that's why so many people love both bikes and fishing.

The owner of the SIMWORKS Doppo Ronin we're introducing today is one of those people.
While enjoying road cycling and fishing, they wanted to use a bike for "getting to the fishing spot" and "moving between spots," and this is the bike they chose.

The Doppo Ronin, SIMWORKS' original frame, is built around the concept of a modern tourer / mixed-terrain bike that links "everyday riding to travel" with a single bike.

From paved commutes to farm paths along the river and weekend tours loaded with gear, its strength is that you can trust it with "90% of your riding time".

You could say it meets the owner's wishes 120%.

A comfortable ride that's different from the road bike they'd been riding.
On top of that, the focus was on durability and versatility to handle carrying gear and some rough roads.

The parts were chosen to match, centered on silver components in contrast to the black-themed road bike, giving it a classic feel.

SIMWORKS Getaround CrMo Bar

The owner is used to riding a road bike with drop bars, but this time deliberately chose a flat bar, putting a relaxed position first.

That said, to keep it from getting too laid-back, we paired the L-size frame with a 100mm stem for a moderate forward lean.
The Getaround Bar, with 10mm of rise and 20° of backsweep, strikes just the right balance.

700c wheels

The frame is designed to be convertible with 650b, but this time light rolling and comfortable cruising took priority over the go-anywhere capability of high-volume tires.
The hubs are GROWTAC, and the rims are polished ASTRAL Outback.

Even with 700c, though, the Doppo Ronin takes tires up to 45mm wide, which is plenty of clearance unless trails are your main focus.

It's fitted with ULTRADYNAMICO Cava JFF 700c × 42mm tires, and this is the spec it'll start out riding with.

GROWTAC Equal in Kashima Coat

For brakes, we went with GROWTAC Equal. In the Kashima Coat version, no less.

Besides pairing nicely with the frame color, it's a model with a solid reputation for both stopping power and control.
The Kashima Coat also gives it high wear and dirt resistance, so it keeps its good looks for a long time.

Speaking of color, the Bronze SIMWORKS Bubbly Pedal goes really well with the frame and the other silver parts too.

By the way, the silver GRX Limited parts were carried over from another bike. I'm a bit envious even now, but these days there's also the CUES / Polish Silver Edition to choose from, so if you've been considering silver components, do add it to your list.

The plan is to start with this setup and update it bit by bit while using it.

Changing to fit the way you use it.
That's another part of the fun of this bike.

We're looking forward to seeing how it evolves.
