【MY DOPPO RACER】A product of my imagination.

It’s been a while, so I’d like to share what I’ve been up to lately.

How are you all spending your time staying at home?
It’s a beautiful season that makes you want to get out and ride, but given the current situation where we still can’t let our guard down, I’ve been telling myself to treat this as a good opportunity to tend to my own bike.

As for me, I decided to take this time—which is more than enough for letting one’s imagination run wild—to turn a long-standing idea into reality.

I took the plunge and rebuilt my Doppo Racer, which I had originally set up as a CX racer. But when I say "rebuild," I mean a significant change in specifications. Those who noticed it in the photo have a sharp eye.

The concept of the Doppo Racer is that it’s a tool you can build according to how you want to play—whether as a pure race bike, for exploring gravel, or as a dirt tourer. So, this is how I’ve expressed my own style of fun through this bike.

Actually, the dropouts used on the Doppo Racer have a track-end type replacement part available. I had been dreaming about whether it would fit properly, so I decided to take the risk and try it out at this time. It installed without any issues, so I turned it into a single-speed gravel bike. And it's fixed gear, too.

I used a niche hub that only manufacturers like SURLY or PAUL make—a 135mm spacing disc brake-compatible track hub—and converted the wheels to 650B. Since I’m a greedy rider who really wants to enjoy the dirt, I chose WTB / Sendero tires. A key detail is that I purposefully used SIMWORKS BY NISSEN French-style cable for the brakes. Tracklocross is gaining momentum, but I’ve personally been interested in the idea of riding fixed gear on gravel, and this is the form I imagined. I’ll call it #Gfixed. I’m not sure yet if the current gear ratio is the "correct" one, but once things settle down, I can’t wait to ride this and tear through the gravel!
