The BASSI Hog’s Back gets its name from a mountain in Quebec’s Gaspésie National Park, but as the head badge icon suggests, it can also be interpreted as a "pig's back."
Much like a pig, this bike excels at providing a stable ride on any terrain.
A partner for camping and weekend adventures
The owner had only ever ridden city bikes ("mamachari") before. Seeing friends head out on bike camping trips made them want to start playing on two wheels too!
Looking for a companion that could handle daily commutes while also being ready for a bit of weekend adventure, we proposed the Hog’s Back and built this bike for them!
Tires that expand the possibilities for fun.

Honestly, I believe you can ride pretty much any tire for daily use. (Of course, there are pros and cons depending on tread patterns and durability.)
That's why how you want to play is the most important factor when choosing tires. We went with ULTRADYNAMICO Rose Race. With these, you don't have to worry if you decide to give in to the temptation of a bit of gravel along the way.
Even wide, knobby gravel tires are no problem for everyday use.
To enjoy the scenery.

Since the owner mentioned riding with their child, we chose the BASSI BIKES Bobby Bar so they could ride in a relaxed position and enjoy the scenery together.
The angle of the backsweep provides just the right amount of ease for both your gaze and your state of mind!
And being made by BASSI, it naturally fits the build perfectly.
Elegant gold accents.

Initially, we had picked out a different headset, but the owner reached out asking to switch to CHRIS KING! And in gold, at that!! To match, we added gold accents in various places for an elegant finish.
Since it’s a steel frame, we want to avoid replacing the headset repeatedly if possible. In that regard, a headset like CHRIS KING—which is stress-free, doesn’t rattle, and offers long-term peace of mind—is a truly reliable choice.
Joining a ride in Tokyo.
Actually, the owner lives in the Kanto region and recently joined the Morning Ride held at Circles Tokyo with their child! There's no greater reward for a bike shop than seeing someone riding the bike we consulted on and built together at an event!
I hope they continue to enjoy many more views with their Hog’s Back!!

We are currently publishing a photo archive of bikes built at Circles.
