It’s been a little while, but I recently took part in OMM LITE/BIKE 2023 (also known as OMM).
The tires I rode on during OMM felt great, so I’d like to introduce them to you.
ULTRADYNAMICO Cava JFF 27.5

ULTRADYNAMICO Cava JFF 27.5
Size: 27.5×2.25
Color: Black/Tan, Black
Price: 9,900 yen (tax included)
Have these been around for a while? Well, the size that has been in our lineup for some time is the 650×47.99B. This new version is the 27.5×2.25 (650x56B) size.
Maintaining the same slick pattern, this update is fatter and more voluminous, providing an even greater sense of stability while riding!
To be honest, the number of gravel bikes that can clear this tire size is limited, but it would look absolutely awesome on a SKLAR Super Something or a BASSI Hog’s Back. It would also be great for a rigid mountain bike used for commuting.
And because of this 27.5×2.25 size, you can also play around with setups like this.
Highly Recommended for Gravel: MARS x CAVA

A setup with a Mars in the front and a Cava in the rear. Now that the Cava 27.5×2.25 is available, we can recreate the Rose x Cava combination that Ultra Romance used to run, but in a wider size!

Since weight shifts to the front when braking, especially on unpaved roads, it’s effective to use a tire with a high-traction pattern on the front. By combining the Mars, which emphasizes off-road capability, with the Cava, which rolls well on pavement, I’ve built an all-terrain bike that can ride nimbly over any surface.
If you’re riding a course with mixed terrain like OMM, I highly recommend this combination!

In addition to the JFF version introduced here, we also carry the Cava Race 27.5 and Cava Robusto 27.5 in the same size with different compounds, so please choose the one that best suits your bike and riding style.

Lastly, I'm sharing this again just in case you missed it before.
Back in June, Ron (a.k.a ULTRAROMANCE) and Patrick (a.k.a ULTRATRADITION) from ULTRADYNAMICO visited Japan for the first time in three and a half years, and we had the chance to interview them! We’ve put together a 54-minute interview in four chapters covering their backgrounds, the brand’s history, and their thoughts on tires. They mention this new size in the interview, so please check it out when you have a moment!
