【SKLAR BIKES】Super Something Update!!

The Super Something is renewed!

The Super Something, which was released in 2022 as SKLAR BIKES' first production model made in Taiwan, has been renewed.

While the basic design concept remains unchanged, the addition of the ATB model PBJ to the lineup has allowed the Super Something to be refined as a bike in the all-road/gravel category.

・Designed for drop-bar builds, with flat-mount disc brake calipers.

・The original unicrown fork and tubing selection have been updated, successfully reducing weight compared to the previous model.

・Updated to UDH dropouts.

The above updates have been implemented. For more on the basic design and development concept, please take a look back at our blog post from its original 2022 release.

Evolved further from the first model that taught us so much

As mentioned, with the arrival of the PBJ, this version has been updated to lean more into its position as a drop-bar all-rounder.

It is intended for wider tires, specifically in the 700x45-50c range, and the original unicrown fork now features a slightly cleaner look, which also contributes to reducing the overall weight of the bike.

Utilizing an original 3D yoke, it maintains tire clearance while accommodating up to a 44T single chainring.

By adopting UDH dropouts, it is compatible with SRAM’s full-mount rear derailleurs. Of course, it is also compatible with standard rear derailleurs from manufacturers like SHIMANO and microSHIFT.

The original unicrown fork has a sleeker silhouette than the first model, contributing to weight savings. The update puts a stronger emphasis on drop-handlebar assembly.

Also, the geometry of the steel Super Something has been slightly updated, and the sizing nomenclature has been changed from centimeters to letters. This is the same geometry carried over from the Super Something Titanium we introduced previously.

"If you send the design to the factory, the factory will build the bike for you."

It's true that when Adam first started his Taiwan production line, that’s what he thought. However, the more involved he became with the factory, the more he realized that "the factory itself is the blueprint."

He understood early on that to design and manufacture superior frames, one must understand the factory's operations and production processes. By blending his experience as a custom frame builder with the knowledge he gained from his mechanical engineering studies before becoming a builder, he is able to set new projects into motion like this.

In that sense, this update is his masterpiece, pouring everything Adam has learned to date into one bike.

Expected arrival in mid-October / Pre-orders start today

With that said, the framesets are expected to arrive in mid-October. Of course, we plan to stock all sizes and colors, but we are accepting pre-orders starting today at both Circles and Circles Tokyo locations, so please use this opportunity if you want to ensure you get yours.

Tomei POP UP TOUR this weekend and next / Adam will be there!

And as we announced previously, we will be hosting SKLAR's first-ever POP UP as the Tomei POP UP TOUR in Nagoya this weekend and in Tokyo next weekend.

By the way, the matching-painted original carbon fork seen on the bike above will be released as an optional part at a later date.

Not only will you be able to test ride the bike shown earlier (Size M), but we actually have a special guest joining Adam. One of them, CHRIS MCNALLY, will be riding a freshly built Super Something, so you'll be able to see that in person and test ride it as well.

Above all, this is a rare opportunity to meet Adam in person, so for those considering a Super Something, existing SKLAR owners, or anyone else interested, we look forward to seeing you there!

I am truly looking forward to seeing Adam for the first time in a while and riding with him in Japan.

Oh, and for the ride in Nagoya on Sunday the 21st, we will have special PFM PBJ sandwiches prepared for the occasion! Please use the form below to sign up for the ride!
