ACLIMA is a Norwegian brand that researches the material of wool daily and spares no effort in maximizing its potential. The outstanding quality of the items they create has earned them strong trust from people in harsh environments, such as the Norwegian military and other NATO forces. They are also constantly working to update wool to be more user-friendly for modern outdoor needs, including developing flame-retardant wool materials that can be worn by firefighters.
Previously, we introduced the Woolnet Crew Neck, one of the brand's iconic base layers. Today, we would like to introduce two items with a more casual look: the WarmWool Grandad Shirt and the WarmWool Shirt W/Cord.
Although both include "WarmWool" in their product names, Aclima divides their products into series based on the type of fabric used. The WarmWool series uses 100% merino wool with a moderate thickness (200g/m2) that can be worn as both a base layer and a casual top.

This henley-style Grandad Shirt possesses the excellent functionality of merino wool, such as heat retention, moisture absorption, and odor resistance, making it great for winter hiking as well as casual wear.

While it is an excellent base layer when worn true-to-size, we also recommend choosing one size up for a slightly looser silhouette. The wooden chip buttons on the chest are a small detail, but they provide a nice accent to the otherwise simple look.
Mr. Ohira, owner of EARLY BIRDS BREAKFAST, and Mr. Inoue of Welldone, are both wearing size L. Both colors have been popular, and only size L remains in stock.

The lace-up chest gives it a slightly cuter appearance compared to the Grandad Shirt, but it can be worn by men with a great look when paired with items like a cap. The laces come in the Norwegian colors of navy, white, and red.

Mr. Ohira is wearing a size M, and Mr. Inoue is wearing a size L. While size L is the best fit for Mr. Inoue, size M looks just right on Mr. Ohira, who is 170cm tall.
I have personally been captivated by merino wool as a material, and I take every opportunity to introduce items made of it. It’s not just for the functionality; it’s also because I prefer the warm expression of natural materials over fabrics made from chemical fibers like polyester.
While the brand’s overall collection isn’t huge, every item created with such dedication to the material of wool is truly attractive. We will continue to keep a close eye on Aclima.
