コントロール性と快適性を兼ね備えたフラットバー

MTBでフラットバーを使用するのはそのコントロールのしやすさからきています。

地面からの突き上げを腕でいなし、自身の体重やバイクのコントロールをする上で真横に伸びた形は最適なのです。

しかしながら、日帰りのライドやツーリングなど長時間の走行に対してこの角度のハンドルを常に握るのは手首に負担がかかってしまいます。実際90年代、当時のバイカーたちはこの負荷のために手首や腕を痛めていました。いわゆる腱鞘炎ってやつですね。

そこで同時期に長距離用のツーリングバイクをラインナップしていた KOGA MIYATA (MIYATAは日本最古の自転車ブランドです) から「Combi Bar」なるフラットバーとドロップハンドルのキメラのようなハンドルを開発され、その後このAT-2のようなエンドバー付きのハンドルが世に出回ることとなりました。

その後、レース現場ではこのエンドバーが他の選手に引っかかり危険であること、技術の進歩によりハンドルバーの幅も広がり存在が薄れていった過去も持っています。

今こそ「遊び」に向いたバイクたちに。

衰退してしまったバーエンドですが、果たしてそれは製品本体が原因だったからでしょうか？

当時の判断基準はレースに重きを置いていた傾向にありますが、現代ではレースという括りはありますが、どちらかというともっとファンライドをメインにおいた製品が増えているのではないでしょうか。（グラベルバイクがいい例ですね）

フラットバーの持つコントロール性の良さと、縦方向に伸びたエンドバーの快適性はグラベルでのライドから、そこへ行くまでの辛い登りや長い距離を快適に走れるバランスの取れたハンドルは遊びの場面ではとても心強く、そして楽しいアイテムであることは間違いありません。

AT-2は7000番の軽量なアルミ合金製のブルホーンバー。絶妙に曲げられた角部のカーブは手に吸い付くようにフィットし、ライドをサポートします。

Complete Bike Shipping within Japan

  • A shipping fee of ¥9,900 (tax included) applies to complete bikes. Additional charges may apply for Okinawa and remote islands.
  • After purchase, we perform a final inspection before shipping. Please allow 1–2 weeks in some cases.
  • For packing, some parts may be removed. We strongly recommend having the bike reassembled and checked by your local bicycle shop before riding.
  • We will contact you by email with delivery details.
  • Products are also sold in-store, so availability may change before the order is finalized.

Frameset Shipping within Japan

  • Flat-rate shipping within Japan: ¥5,500 (tax included). Additional charges may apply for Okinawa and remote islands.
  • Shipping rates for OMNIUM framesets and complete bikes differ.
  • We will contact you by email with delivery details.
  • Facing and tapping preparation for framesets purchased from Circles is available at no additional charge. Details will be provided after purchase.
  • Headset and bottom bracket installation are also available for an additional labor fee. Please contact us if required.

Custom & Stock Wheel Shipping within Japan

  • A shipping fee of ¥2,000 (tax included) applies. Additional charges may apply for Okinawa and remote islands.
  • Stock wheels undergo a final inspection by a mechanic before shipping. Please allow approximately 3 business days for dispatch.
