SANTACRUZ BICYCLE started in a one-car garage inside the Seabright Cannery in Santa Cruz, California. Our first bike, the TAZMON, was a single-pivot, dual-suspension bike that turned the ride experience upside down by 180°. At the time, full-suspension bikes were uncommon, and rear-suspension do-it-yourself bikes (now called “trail” or “all-mountain”) were extremely rare. But founder and charismatic skateboarder Rob Rothkop wasn't constrained by trends or being told how to think. He saw full suspension as the game-changing technology to come, and since then SANTACURZ has strived to build bikes that allow riders to go farther, faster, higher and longer.
Today, SANTACRUZ BICYCLE manufactures a range of high performance MTBs for true cycling enthusiasts. They come in carbon fiber and aluminum and make everything from hardtails to 8.5 inch travel downhill machines. The carbon bikes are produced in SANTACRUZ's dedicated manufacturing plant and all full suspension models use advanced VPP (Virtual Pivot Point) technology. All bikes are hand assembled to order in our California factory. JULIANA, our sister brand, is the originator of women's mountain bikes and now produces a full line of high-end bikes for women. We also produce our high-end carbon wheels, RESERVE, which set a new standard for strength and reliability, and all frames and reserve wheels come with a lifetime warranty.
