Re:Re: Push & Pull: Still in Production Silver Parts "SHIMANO DXR V-BRAKE"

Options for rim brakes continue to dwindle, and options other than black are becoming increasingly scarce. While black is a safe and solid choice, it can sometimes feel a bit too intense—there are times when you want something that shines to balance out the overall aesthetic.

With that in mind, I’d like to introduce an item that often comes to mind with a "Oh, right, that exists!" kind of feeling.

It’s not a new product, but since we receive so many orders for it and recommend it often, I thought I’d take a moment to write a few words.

The “DXR Series,” Shimano’s BMX race division, is rarely seen even among Shimano products. In fact, it is a series that has continued to produce universal silver brakes and brake levers.

With rim brakes disappearing from the Deore and XT series, and even from other readily available manufacturers outside of Shimano, our options for mid-to-high-grade, reliable, and durable brakes that offer a satisfying feel have significantly decreased.

Given that, I think the Motolite V-BRAKE from PAUL is truly well-made and offers impressive versatility.

While this Shimano DXR V-Brake doesn't allow for wheel size adjustments like the Motolite, it offers solid stopping power and a clean, minimalist design that fits seamlessly onto many different bikes.

The matching levers have a ruggedness that also carries a certain charm, so I highly recommend using them as a set.

These would be an excellent fit for bikes like the SURLY Cross-Check or CRUST BIKES Light Ning Bolt.

Of course, if you’ve picked up an old MTB, these are sure to be a perfect match, so please keep these silver parts in mind if you’re ever stuck deciding on brakes for a rim-brake bike!

At Circles, even with a basic assembly, we always propose builds that carefully consider the balance and precision of individual parts. If you have any specific requests for the kind of bike you're looking for, please feel free to reach out to us.
