It has remained unchanged over timE The shape of the brake is such a masterpiece that it continues to be used on complete vehicles even today, even though it was first released nearly 20 years ago.
I remember being impressed by its overwhelming braking power when it was first released. Although it has now ceded sovereignty in the braking power battle to disc brakes, its ease of maintenance is outstanding.

The greatest feature is that the position of the brake shoes can be adjusted up and down with a single hexagonal wrench. This allows MTB frames that are compatible with 26-inch wheels to be converted to 650B, giving new options for wheel diameters for frames that only have cantilever pedestals.
