The BEDROCK SANDALS 2025 release colors have finally been announced. Seeing those pop and cute new colors makes my wallet feel a bit loose, tempting me to get a new pair.
With that excitement in mind, I look down at my feet to see my dirty BEDROCK SANDALS Mountain Clogs... It’s almost as if they’re saying, "Don't you dare switch to sandals while I'm in this state!"
I spend a lot of time standing up and crouching down, and it seems like dirt and dust have gathered in the creases. I’ve worn these Mountain Clogs almost every day for the past six months, and because I want to keep using them for a long time, I definitely want to clean them properly and store them in great condition until the next season rolls around. So, today I’m introducing some maintenance goods!
NIKWAX Footwear Cleaning Gel
First, let’s remove the accumulated dirt with this NIKWAX Footwear Cleaning Gel.
It can be used on both leather and synthetic fibers. It contains ingredients that protect leather and can also be used to clean other gear like sneakers, hiking boots, and gloves.
Before applying the gel, lightly remove any surface dirt. Wipe nubuck leather with a dry, soft cloth, and brush suede leather to remove dust.
Next, rinse away any mud with clean water. Make sure to get the entire surface of the fabric wet.
After shaking the bottle well, apply the cleaning gel over the entire surface. The top of the bottle acts as a brush, so use it to scrub away any particularly dirty spots.
Rinse thoroughly with clean water until all the foam is gone. Wipe off excess moisture with a towel. We will move on to the waterproofing step next, but since the waterproofing agent is applied while the fabric is wet, do it before letting them dry!

NIKWAX Nubuck & Suede Proof
Now that they're clean, it’s time for water-repellent treatment.
NIKWAX Nubuck & Suede Proof is specifically designed for nubuck and suede, allowing you to add water repellency without compromising the texture of the napped material.
Shake the bottle well and spray onto the still-wet shoes from a distance of about 15cm.
※Starting from the next shipment, this will change from a spray to a sponge-top type. Use the sponge on the top of the bottle to apply it evenly.
Wait for about 2 minutes, then wipe off any excess with a towel.
All that’s left is to let them air dry. Place them in a well-ventilated, shaded area. It’s a good idea to stuff them with crumpled newspaper to help dry the inside.

Overall, the dark dust has been removed, and the creases don't bother me as much anymore. The suede's characteristic nap has also come back beautifully!
I'll be able to start wearing them again next season feeling refreshed.
(I personally spend most of my summer in sandals, but the Mountain Clogs are definitely shoes you can wear all year round.)
The water repellency is just like this!
Water droplets sit nicely on the surface. When I sprayed them heavily with a mist bottle, I did see some slight soaking over time. It seems they will still get wet in heavy rain. This is also a characteristic of leather, so please do give it a try.
Even great products won't maintain their quality without care.
While some say dirt adds character, it’s by cleaning them even after they get dirty that those signs of wear really become a mark of true quality.
Now I can switch to my sandals without a second thought!!
