【BIKE of the WEEK】Hog’s Back Everyday Use

BIKE of the WEEK is back! The bike I’d like to introduce today is the BASSI BIKES / Hog’s Back.

The Hog’s Back is a versatile machine that handles everything from touring to city riding, but since the owner was looking for a daily commuter, we focused this build primarily on city use!

A new frame for a beloved bike.

This Hog’s Back was built by transplanting usable parts from a cross bike the owner had been riding for a long time. Since we were able to reuse most of the drivetrain, we managed to keep the build budget-friendly.

Everyone has that one bike that taught them how fun cycling can be; transplanting parts from a bike like that only makes the new one even more special.
Those well-worn Sugino cranks look great, don't they?!

The Hog’s Back specifically uses quick-release standards, which is a great feature that makes it easy to keep using parts that have stood the test of time. That’s exactly why this kind of build works so well.

Attention to color matching.

Part of the charm of the Hog’s Back is its red base with fun pop-art logos.
This time, we accented the bike with touches of yellow-green to match the logo.
Great choice!!

Everything else was kept simple with black, creating a chic overall look.

With the money saved on reusing parts, we splurged on the SimWorks Little Nick handlebar. We went with wider tires than the old cross bike, resulting in a comfortable setup that’s not just for commuting, but also perfect for cruising around town on the weekends.

It’ll be fun to add a front rack or basket in the future, too.

I hope this bike takes the owner to see many beautiful sights!
