When it comes to flat handlebars here at Circles, the classics are undoubtedly the Getaround and Little Nick by SimWorks By Nitto. However, are you familiar with the handlebar that has just as many fans—the Smooth Move?
Available in three shapes, each featuring the perfect amount of back sweep, these handlebars were born from the long-standing experience of Rick Hunter, builder at Hunter Cycles, and brought to life through SimWorks’ efforts and Japan’s premier component company, Nitto. We are excited to announce that all models and colors are finally back in stock!
With 15 degrees of back sweep, 5 degrees of up sweep, and a 75mm rise, this high-rise bar excels on pump tracks and dirt jumps—a favorite of Rick’s—and is highly recommended for riders who love to catch air.
Next is the low-rise version, featuring the same 15-degree back sweep and 5-degree up sweep, but with a more modest 37mm rise. It’s a perfect fit for trail riding, dirt touring, and even for those who enjoy flat-bar cyclocross.
Finally, we have the Flat Sweeper, featuring 20 degrees of back sweep and zero rise. Back in the day, Surly offered a bar called the 1x1 Torsion Bar, made by Nitto; that’s no longer in production, but I personally see this as its successor. It’s an exquisitely comfortable bar that pairs perfectly with commuters, touring bikes, ATBs, and more.
All 31.8mm clamp models are heat-treated at Nitto’s factory, ensuring durability while maintaining just the right amount of flex to bring smoothness to your ride. Add one to your cockpit and enjoy a "Smooth Move" ride!
