A senior from my university who just returned from France is resuming work in Tokyo, so I refreshed the bicycle he’s been riding since our college days and tuned it up so he can make good use of it in the city.
The bike is a nostalgic old-school KONA Humuhumu that I built over a decade ago. What’s more, it’s from the era of the coaster brake—enough to bring a tear to my eye these days. The custom paint job I did for him back then, using Spherical Paint, even has some glitter in it if you look closely.
To capture a city cruiser vibe, I chose the SIMWORKS BY NITTO / Fun3 bar, which allows for a more relaxed riding posture. It really is the perfect bar for cruising around town.
