Ombre Check Short Sleeve Shirt
Ombre check, where shades of color gradually transition and blur at the borders, has been used in various American casual wear since around the 1950s. While sometimes seen in workwear, it is, above all, a pattern loved by stylish skaters and many artists, giving it a slightly mischievous and rugged image.
Fabric from Enshu woven with cotton, ramie, and linen
While typical ombre check fabric often uses rayon or wool, the fabric used here is woven from a blend of cotton with two types of bast fiber: ramie and linen. Produced in Enshu, a region with a history as a cotton textile hub, this fabric has a substantial feel while maintaining a unique, soft, and airy texture thanks to the added hemp. It is more breathable and lighter than it appears, making it perfect for throwing on in the coming season.
The charm of natural materials
The washed fabric already has the character of something worn many times, and as you continue to use it, its expression will change even more. Just like chambray and denim, this is proof of continued wear and your own history—it’s the process of affection being poured into an object, leading it to become something you cherish. Simple pattern designed for freedom of movement
The shape remains consistent with our previous short sleeve series; all freedom of movement is achieved through the shirt's pattern, including fine adjustments to width and armhole size, as well as yoke height and dart placement. The buttons are made of rubber, similar to those used on rugby shirts, to prevent injury in case of an accidental impact.
Large and convenient back pocket
The back is equipped with a back pocket, a hallmark of cycling wear. It is very convenient for storing items you frequently reach for, such as keys or a smartphone, and is also useful for storing a bandana or hand towel during this season. It is deep enough that you don't need to worry about items falling out during activity.
