In the course of days like those, we've taken the things we felt “it'd be nice to have something like this” and given them shape, with our own point of view and a little humor.
Not just cycling wear, and not just everyday goods.
Taking a sensibility that began with the bicycle and turning it into tools you can really use in daily life.
That is at the root of how RAL makes things.
One of the products RAL has kept making for a long time is the RAL CAP.
We've lost count of which version this is; it's a cap we've kept making through update after update. It has been produced in many designs, colorways and materials. And this year too, thank you for waiting! We're releasing the RAL Cap 2026📣
The back-to-our-roots 2026 Ver.
This RAL Cap 2026 is a little special.
The source of the design is the earliest of our early models, made eight years ago. Wanting to recreate, in today's form, the atmosphere of when we started making caps as RAL and the playfulness of those days, we chose this design with the intention of going back to where we started.
We've made the fit a little deeper
What we revised most from last year's model is the depth of the fit.
Until now, the RAL Cap has valued a balance that's light, on the shallow side and unobtrusive, so that it's easy to wear under a helmet as well.
While of course keeping those good points, this time we've made the fit just a little deeper.
It's now easy for men, too, to wear it properly, with a silhouette that feels secure even when worn as a cap on its own. Rather than perching on top of the head, we aimed for a balance that sits a little more naturally.
Without changing the basic construction, which works in everyday life and is properly thoughtful when you're on the bike, we've refined it into a shape that's easier for a wider range of people to wear.
About Premium Sun-Dried SUN AIRY®
And this time, the other thing we love is the fabric.
What we're using is Premium Sun-Dried SUN AIRY®.
First and foremost, this fabric has a really lovely feel..!
Though brand new, it has a natural look that's somehow like something freshly washed and worn, and it isn't too crisp. It has a lightness as if it holds just the right amount of air, and a softness that settles in from the very first wear. It doesn't have that obviously “brand new” air, and that's what's good about it.
And the appeal of Premium Sun-Dried SUN AIRY® isn't only its feel and lightness.
Compared with ordinary fabrics, sun-dried fabric differs in its processing steps and methods. With less processing, the amount of water used, the wastewater produced during processing, and the use of energy such as electricity, steam and gas can all be kept down, which also leads to a reduction in CO2 emissions.
Premium Sun-Dried SUN AIRY® is made by a sustainable dyeing process that can save about 25%–50% of the water compared with ordinary dyeing methods. That it's a material that puts little strain on the process of making things, too, is a viewpoint we want to value when choosing things.
What we didn't change
While there are parts we've updated, there are also things we didn't change.
That is the basic thinking behind the RAL CAP.
That it doesn't feel lumpy even under a helmet.
That you can flip up the brim.
That you can easily adjust the fit with the drawcord.
And that you can use it without a second thought in everyday life, too.
Keeping just as they are the small touches we wanted as cyclists, it's something you find yourself reaching for not only on the bike but in daily life.
The RAL CAP is a cap we keep making with the aim of being that kind of presence.
A fresh start as RAL
This year, Circles marks its 20th anniversary.
At the same time, it's also a milestone for taking a fresh look at the RAL brand once again.
Going back to our starting point of making the things we ourselves really want to use, we want to head on toward the things we'll make from here.
This is the cap of RAL's fresh start, made with those feelings.
We'd be delighted if you'd wear it a lot, wash it, let it go soft, and take it out on rides, on trips and into everyday life.
