Since May, I’ve been hurtling through a whirlwind of weekends filled with events and races like Hakushu no Mori Bikelore, Mori, Michi, Ichiba 2019, and SDA Otaki… how did you all spend your weekends?
At this time of year, insects become more active in the mountains, so I’ve been holding back a little on my beloved gravel rides. Instead, I’ve been heading out more on my road bike, which lets me cover long distances in a shorter amount of time, venturing even further out than where I usually go.

Just the other day, I went for a road ride with Omura-paishen. Riding on unfamiliar roads reminds me that there’s still so much left to explore, and knowing that I have more fun rides to look forward to this summer makes me feel restless to get out there.
I think it’s good to go for a ride on a different bike once in a while to enjoy the experience through a different lens.
While I was thinking about that, the rainy season arrived, but we’re holding our popular MAAP Pop Up Shop again this year!

MAAP designs in Melbourne, Australia, uses carefully selected materials, and creates high-quality apparel with patterns optimized for riding. Their clothing expresses a unique style that transcends time.

Since they are based in Australia, MAAP excels at spring/summer items, and we have prepared the 2019SS new collection that is perfect for this season. While MAAP is known for items centered around their signature navy, keep an eye out for the new collection’s unique colorways as well.

I also love navy, but I decided to mix things up and chose the new Women’s Encore Pro Base Jersey in Slate Blue. I’ve already tried it on, and it’s very comfortable—it will definitely be getting a lot of use on my rides this summer.
