The bike in the photo is the SURLY / Long Haul Trucker that we previously introduced in our case study on upsizing from 26-inch to 650B wheels.
This time, in addition to the rear rack we originally installed—the SURLY Nice Rack Rear—we added a SIMWORKS BY NITTO / Obento Rack to the front. There's just something about how cohesive this looks, don't you think? Let's take a closer look at each part.
In fact, for this build, we had both the front and rear racks painted by Kyutai Paint to match the frame color. While people usually opt for black or silver racks, color-matching them to the frame like this really ties the whole bike together. If you look closely, you'll see that we even went the extra mile to have the stays painted in the same color.
If you're strictly looking at functionality, it's fine to leave them unpainted and use them hard, but this kind of custom work is a fun option if you have the chance. If you're interested, please feel free to reach out to us!
