【HUNTER CYCLES】A bike that teaches you the joy of riding

What is a bike that purely teaches you the joy of riding?

That joy is transmitted the moment you start turning the pedals.

That is the allure of a bicycle known as a fixed gear.

The sensation of power being transferred directly from the pedals to the cranks, chain, rear cog, and then from the rear wheel to the road surface. Strictly speaking, everything isn't directly connected, but there is a riding feel that makes you strangely feel that way.

Even if it's not a special season or a special place,
in the midst of ordinary everyday life, you can enjoy the pure act of riding a bike, even if only for a short time.

You become obsessed with turning the pedals,
you end up riding to places that weren't in your plans,
you find yourself thinking, "just a little more, just a little more,"
simply wanting to keep turning those pedals.

A fixed gear bike has that kind of charm.

The bike introduced here is also built with a focus on city riding.
The frame is the HUNTER CYCLES Track Frame.

HUNTER CYCLES

HUNTER CYCLES is a handmade bike brand born from frame builder Rick Hunter, based in California, USA.

Based on sensibilities cultivated in the lush natural fields of the West Coast, he has created bikes with free-thinking concepts that are not bound by genres like road or mountain.

Each frame breathes with the builder's handiwork and a deep understanding of riding, and its style continues to influence many frame builders active today.

Note that currently, custom orders are not being accepted due to Rick Hunter's health. Even so, the presence that these bikes emanate continues to attract many riders.

Track Frame

This Track Frame is a production model that we requested.

The intended tire clearance is a clean 28c.
The top tube is equipped with brake housing stops, supporting the installation of both front and rear brakes.

While based on a design simple enough to be a track bike, it is specified with the practicality to be used for everyday rides.

In its simplicity, form and function dwell.
It is a frame that is quintessentially Rick Hunter.

The mono seat stay, an icon of HUNTER CYCLES

The mono seat stay, which is also an icon of HUNTER CYCLES frames.

It has a unique shape that becomes pressed as it goes downward from the seat tube junction.

While this specification might look delicate at first glance, it possesses the necessary durability while also having the flexibility to appropriately absorb road vibrations.

Visual beauty and functionality.
Both are equipped in this frame.

Assembly composed with PHIL WOOD

Headset, front and rear hubs, seat post collar.
Following the owner's preference, we built it with as many PHIL WOOD products as possible.

Furthermore, for the crank, chainring, and bottom bracket,
we installed the PHIL WOOD Track Crankset sold as a set.

The deep polish characteristic of PHIL WOOD products
enhances the presence of the entire bike.

The front chainring is 47T, and the rear cog is 17T.
The gear ratio is 2.76….

It's a perfect balance for cruising through the city—neither too light nor too heavy.

FORAGER CYCLES Jemmy Bar

For the handlebar, we adopted the FORAGER CYCLES Jemmy Bar.

The design with a 27° backsweep and 6° upsweep makes it easy to hold in a relaxed position, accommodating everything from city riding to touring.

FORAGER CYCLES is a brand based in Sequim, a small town on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State, focusing on bike accessories and creating many products that evoke both practicality and playfulness.

Also, this handlebar was created by Mr. Smith of RATKING, who says that when he decided to become a builder, he visited Rick Hunter's workshop and learned many things about craftsmanship.

Including that story, this combination holds a special place for us as well.

Regardless of the style or assembly, it makes just turning the pedals a little more enjoyable during your daily travels.
