【CirclesTokyo】【Delivery Blog】Limited to 8 units in Japan ― Super Something Titanium, now delivered!

Hello. This is Jon from the Tokyo store.

We have officially completed the delivery of the "Super Something Titanium," a rare model with only 8 units imported into Japan, to its new owner!

We truly appreciate your patience, and the entire staff is overjoyed that we could finally get this bike into your hands.

The Story Behind Purchasing the SKLAR Super Something Titanium

The owner who ordered this bike was originally someone who enjoyed stainless steel bikes. Having transitioned from rim-brake road bikes to disc-road bikes and small-wheeled bikes, they had intended to stick with stainless steel forever.

Then, they discovered the unique gravel bike, the Manta Ray by SEVEN CYCLES, online. They searched for a local dealer but couldn't easily find one...

As they continued their research, they realized that Circles Tokyo had one in stock, so they easily abandoned their "stainless-only" rule and visited the store.

While they imagined that riding such a bike would change the scenery in the best way possible, there was still an insurmountable hurdle. Their next candidate for a frame was the SKLAR Super Something Titanium. Since they happened to visit just as we were processing the shipment, we had them hold the actual frame.

They were stunned the moment they picked it up, exclaiming, "How is it this light!?" I still remember the owner’s shock at how much lighter it was than they had ever imagined, despite having heard that titanium was lightweight.

Back home, their enthusiasm only grew while looking at the Sklar Bikes website and photos. Thinking, "It'll be dangerous if I go back to the shop...", they inevitably returned. Since we had a test bike ready at that time, they were able to take it for a ride.

They experienced a "mysterious ride quality that feels like it’s gently enveloping your whole body, despite only touching it with your limbs and saddle." They were deeply moved by a world they hadn’t tasted with the carbon, steel, or stainless bikes they had ridden before. After confirming the bike in person and test-riding it, they decided, "This is the one titanium bike for my life."

Ultimately, the deciding factor was, above all, the value they gained from the actual ride. Even with a frame of the same shape, there was a sense of "tranquility and kindness" imbued within it, a unique world only titanium could offer.

And so, the Super Something Titanium became the "bike of destiny" for the customer.

Let's check out the bike!

For the footwork, the owner chose their own CHRIS KING R45D HUB. It seemed to have been sitting at home for a while, and since they were thinking about building new wheels, they decided to revive them as part of this request!

We chose VELOCITY Aero, which is based on the Aileron, known for its oval profile that emphasizes aero performance and strength! While the Aileron supports tire widths from 25mm to 47mm, the AERO handles tires from 28mm up to 55mm.

The increased contact patch between the tire and the ground allows it to adapt to various road environments, both on and off-road.

For tires, we selected the GOODYEAR CONNECTOR SPEED. These are highly versatile tires suitable for everything from paved roads to dirt, and from city streets to diverse environments—a choice made based on the owner's request to enjoy both gravel and on-road riding.

Since they primarily rode road bikes and had little gravel experience, they mentioned that once they get used to it, they want to take advantage of the 2.2-inch clearance to run wider tires and dive into rougher roads with more confidence. Ahead of that lies the "joy of adventure" that they couldn't taste on a road bike, which is something to look forward to.

As they love climbing, we adopted a wide-range cassette. Having a light gear allows you to maintain your pace even on steep inclines without straining, making it a pleasure to aim for the magnificent views beyond the mountain passes.

Furthermore, a wide range isn't just for hills; it offers flexibility against strong headwinds or for long-duration rides, which is a major appeal for expanding the freedom of your ride.

The signature here was written when Adam and Nick visited Circles Tokyo for their TOMEI POP UP TOUR. Unfortunately, the owner felt unwell the day before and couldn't attend, but Adam left a message saying "This Is Nice!", cheering them on with the wish that they "enjoy climbing even the toughest hills."

These words have the power to give courage at any time, and above all, they will become a memory for a lifetime.

While the owner is captivated by the material of titanium itself, they aren't the type to prioritize "speed" for racing or numerical performance above all else. They find strong individuality and a narrative in the material quality, design, and direction, and possess a desire to aim for a bike and a riding style that is uniquely their own—not just for the sake of "speed," but to gain some kind of value or experience along the way.

Heading off-road on a whim, stopping at an open spot to set up a chair they’d packed along to relax, or taking the train for a ride where they can gingerly navigate environments overflowing with trees, rivers, and dirt paths! That is the kind of riding they plan to enjoy with the SKLAR Super Something Titanium.

If you have been attracted to the charm of titanium but haven't found the one for you, and if you feel excited by the free and unconstrained gravel vision held by the Super Something, it will surely answer those feelings. "It’s a bike that makes you believe your first titanium bike will be a special one."

Also, we are sharing an update on our current Tokyo store stock frames, including the Super Something 2.0 and PBJ, which were restocked last month.
