Thanks to you all, our WOVEN BAR TAPE continues to be well-received. It has become a highly requested item for bar tape replacements here at the shop.
However, for those who feel the colors might be hard to match with their own bike, or who want to set themselves apart from others, I’d like to share a special pro-tip.
It looks like Aya-chan is working on the bike she welded herself during her vocational school days after finishing up her shift.
Yes, that's the pro-tip: apply varnish after wrapping the bar tape! You can find all sorts of varnish at your local hardware store, from clear to various tinted options; this time, we applied a light coat of a brownish-tinted varnish.
Compared to the original color, it now has a more muted tone. And thanks to the varnish, it also provides a bit of water resistance—a "kill two birds with one stone" kind of trick. In terms of how it feels when gripping, the surface becomes slightly harder and crisp, but it’s not really bothersome at all.
Looking at them side by side like this, the impression is totally different! Why don’t you all try customizing your own WOVEN BAR TAPE in your own unique way?!
Be sure to share your ideas with us too!
