Although not widely known, OMM is a mountain race that has been held for over 45 years since 1968 across the rainy, humid terrain of the UK. Rather than competing for speed within a fixed trail running format, this two-day, one-night race without aid stations tests your overall mountain prowess, requiring a very high level of experience in skills such as map navigation and wilderness camping. Furthermore, because you are required to carry all your own gear, and must run while bearing a heavy pack and sometimes enduring rainfall, you need gear that is lightweight and does not hinder your movement.
As we introduced in our blog the other day, while the movement known as UL (Ultralight) is firmly at the center of the current outdoor scene, OMM’s products are based on creative thinking and over 45 years of diverse experience, with a core concept of how to move comfortably and quickly in rainy, humid fields.
Their lineup, consisting of clothing, packs, sleeping items, and accessories, is highly practical and can be used comfortably not only for OMM races, but also for hiking, commuting runs, and of course, cycling. That’s right—the OMM race even has an "OMM BIKE" category, a race packed with both hardship and fun where you use a bicycle to visit checkpoints. We hope you take a look!
So, shall we organize one here in Japan?
