To have a comfortable day, things like delicious food, riding our bikes, or wearing the right clothes are important. It’s all about the "essentials of life."
As the season changes, the base layer worn against your skin is arguably the biggest factor in regulating your body temperature. This holds true whether you're heading out for a ride or just going about your daily life.
Have you ever worn a merino wool base layer?
Rapha M’s Merino Base Layer – Long Sleeve ¥11,000 (excl. tax) col: gray, blk, white
The "Rapha" merino wool t-shirt has been a staple in our shop for a long time. I wear it for winter rides and in my everyday life, too. Simply put, it is:
・Warm
・Extremely comfortable against the skin
・Does not get cold from sweat
Merino wool is about three times thinner than regular wool, and much smoother. It uses high-quality, rare wool in a luxurious way. And despite looking delicate, it is quite durable as long as you don't wash it incorrectly.
Here is another base layer that uses merino wool: patagonia M’s MERINO 2 LW HENLEY ¥11,000 (excl. tax)
This is a blended fabric that combines merino wool with the Capilene I introduced previously. By mixing in synthetic fibers, it has a more robust feel than the Rapha merino shirt.
This is a henley neck base layer, making it even easier to wear for daily use.
Some people say it feels like a waste to wear them for anything other than riding, but I think it's a bigger waste not to wear such great items often. I'd actually like for you to wear them every day.
Admittedly, they are a bit pricey for everyday undergarments, so please do come by just to try one on.
I'm sure you'll want one eventually.
