The procedure is very simple:

No tools are needed.
Anyone can use it, regardless of age or gender.
When you put your bike in a transport bag for travel (rinko) without removing the pedals, they tend to cause trouble: they get bulky, get snagged, or scratch other things.
On the other hand, trying to remove them can be equally inconvenient: you get dirty with grease or chain oil, or they are tightened so hard they won't come off. This system solves all those problems in one go.
There are 14 types of pedals that use this system. You can choose the one that fits your bike best.
