Following yesterday's delivery, here is today's: a Cielo Classic CX / Purple Limited Edition. This was the very last one we had in stock, and it was a “surprise me” order—the kind that’s fun to give and a joy to receive—from Ken-Polo, who just started working with us at EarlyBirds recently.

It’s truly a privilege for a bike shop to be given such a stylish request, so we knew we had to pull out all the stops and get it done right.

Since his only specific request was to include fenders, we figured, "Well, if we're doing that..." so we had KyutaiPaint paint them with champagne gold and purple stripes to match the frame. We keep Honjo fenders in stock to fit bikes with various tire sizes, and if you take advantage of this painting service, you’re guaranteed to end up with a magnificent, one-of-a-kind bike. For the hubs, it goes without saying that we used hand-spun ChrisKing R45s in purple. The rims are the Velocity A23s, which we have high hopes for in the future. We’ve meticulously adjusted the tension so it can handle hard riding.

For the cockpit, we kept it simple with a full SimWorks setup. For the drivetrain, we dug out some square-taper Centaur components that had been collecting dust in the corner of our display case for years—it’s been a while since we used Campy. As always, everything about it screams Campy, but no one can argue with that overwhelming “look.”

Naturally, the stem and spacers were painted to match; putting in that little extra effort really makes the bike look composed and sharp. We definitely recommend this for painted Surly bikes and more.

Ken-Polo! Go out and have a blast with your bike—don't let it outdo you, become an even better man! Though, I suppose you’re already plenty good-looking...
