SKLAR BIKESbegan as a custom bike builder in Bozeman, Montana .

The “PBJ” is the rigid mountain bike that SKLAR produces as a production model.

It features large 29-inch wheels and voluminous tires, along with a simple steel frame and a rigid fork.

The interesting thing about the PBJ is that while it has the performance of a mountain bike built for trails, it isn’t limited to the mountains as its only playground.

Today, we’re introducingan “Original CompleteBike”built by Circles using a PBJ frameset as the base and carefully selected components.

Head to the mountains. Enjoy the ride there, too.

The PBJ is a bit different from what you’d call a cross-country MTB or a modern hardtail.

It features a simple setup with a steel rigid fork and wide tires—no suspension fork.

That’s exactly why you can enjoy the entire ride—from the paved roads and forest trails leading to the trails, all the way to the side paths you discover along the way—as a single, continuous experience.

Instead of loading it into a car just to ride in the mountains, you pedal from home to the mountains.

Ride one trail, then take that forest road you’ve been curious about on the way back.

The appeal of this bike is that you can enjoy the whole experience—from the ride there to the ride back.

The large 29-inch wheels and voluminous tires deliver excellent traction not only on trails littered with tree roots and rocks but also on rough forest roads.

For this Original Complete Bike, we’ve built it to let you fully enjoy the PBJ’s unique character.

At the heart of the cockpit istheSIMWORKSFun 3 Bar.

Combininga wide 750mm handlebar with a50mmSIMWORKSRhonda Stem, it creates a riding position that allows for firm control on the trails while remaining easy to handle on forest roads and in the city.

The grips are PNW The Loam Grips.

We’vealso paired aWolf Tooth Resolve Rev2 160mm dropper post with a Remote 360.

On descents and steep slopes, lower the saddle to move your body freely; on climbs and paved roads, return to your usual pedaling position.

Although this is a simple PBJ without suspension, the addition of a dropper post ensures plenty of freedom to play with the terrain.

With 29×2.5" tires, it handles any trail.

The wheelset features SRAM 900 Boost Hubs paired with VELOCITY Blunt SSrims.

The polished Blunt SS rims paired with silver spokes add a classic touch to the Moss Green frame.

We selectedWTB Vigilante 29×2.5"tires .

Taking advantage of the high-volume 29-inch tires’ traction, this setup lets you confidently tackle trails and rough forest roads.

The drivetrain is a SRAM GX Eagle 1×12.

With a 32T chainring and a wide-range cassette, it handles everything from paved roads to steep forest trail climbs with simple shifting.

For brakes, we’ve chosentheJapanese GROWTAC EQUAL.

The simple design and ease of use characteristic of mechanical disc brakes complement the character of this rigid MTB perfectly.

Because it’s simple, you’re free to ride however you like.

You can have fun in the mountains even without suspension.

Just because it has fat tires doesn’t mean you have to ride only in the mountains.

Ride on paved roads, turn onto forest roads, and head out onto the trails beyond.

You can load it up with camping gear for a trip or use it for your daily commute.
