Description
The SHIMANO BR-R317 is the definitive choice for drop handlebar road bikes, gravel roads, and cyclocross with tough, easy-to-use mechanical (wire-pull) disc brakes.
It is perfectly optimized for Shimano's road brake levers (NEW Super SLR ratio) and provides the direct and controllable braking feel that only wire-pull brakes can offer.
The major advantage of mechanical brakes is that they are extremely easy to maintain, with none of the hassles of fluid replacement or bleeding that are associated with hydraulic brakes. The peace of mind that comes with the ability to quickly fine-tune and recover with a single Allen key is the best friend you can have from daily use to adventure riding, whether you are on a bike trip, long touring trip, or in the event of a problem on the road.
The compact and clean post-mounted shape also blends in ruggedly and beautifully with Surly and other chromoly frames and modern classic steel forks.
This is an honest standard caliper that can be used for a long time with reliable braking power and durability that can only be achieved with Shimano quality, while keeping the price low.
