In 1981, Wolfgang Reiche (34 years old at the time) was planning a world bicycle trip and was looking for a reliable tire. SCHWALBE / Schwalbe supported him and the tire development started.
Based on Reiche's reports, prototypes were delivered to him while he was driving around the world, and after four years of repeated testing in actual driving conditions, the Marathon was finally born after running over 73,000 km in 32 countries.

Regarding the delivery of frame sets
