PAUL COMPONENT () was founded in 1989 in a former Texaco Oil distribution facility in Chico, California that was converted into a garage in 1926 and has been meticulously manufacturing bicycle parts in that garage ever since.

Product Story
When Paul suggested that we bring back the classic 100% Pure Cranks, updated to modern specifications, our engineers were thrilled. What's more, it would also feature a 3-bolt direct-mount chainring spline and a crank bolt with self-extractor.
However, the following words caused some consternation: "The bottom bracket is JIS square taper.
Let's go with a JIS square taper bottom bracket," he said.
...... What, square taper in 2025? Really? That was my honest reaction.
But after actually installing and testing the prototype, I quickly changed my mind.
I found that by changing the length of the BB spindle, the Q-factor (width between pedals) and clearance with the chainstay could be finely adjusted. Furthermore, by utilizing the chainring offsets (0mm / -3mm / -6mm), I could pull the ideal chainline even with a larger rear cog.
If you are a detail-oriented rider, this crank is for you.
Q-factor maniacs, rejoice! This crank is a product of that kind.

J.I.S. Square taper standard
