Description

Also known as "R. Crumb's Kafka," "An Introduction to Kafka" will be a biographical picture book of Franz Kafka by David Zane Mairowitz and Robert Crumb. The book includes comic adaptations of some of Kafka's most famous works, including "The Metamorphosis," "The Starving Artist," "In Exile," and "The Judgement," as well as brief sketches of three of his novels, "The Trial," "The Castle," and "Amerika." The book will also feature a detailed biography of Kafka in the form of a series of comic panels, much like an illustrated essay.

The book focuses on the details of Kafka's life and is interspersed with illustrations of his written works. Author David Zane Meyrowitz relates Kafka's character and various events in his life to the structure of his work, such as Kafka's own complicated relationship with his family, as Gregor Samsa, the protagonist of The Metamorphosis, wakes up transformed into a giant insect and a burden to his family It is said that Kafka's own life is simply expressed as the fact that he was transformed into a giant insect when he woke up and became a burden to his family.
