The best way to get to a sento is by bicycle.

Hi everyone! It’s Taisei!
I love public bathhouses (sento) so much that I make sure to go on all my days off.

Public bathhouses at this time of year are just the absolute best.
Letting the night breeze wash over your body, still warm from riding your bike.
That feeling is pure bliss.

People often say it’s pointless to ride your bike and get sweaty right after taking a bath.

SHUT UPPPPPPPP!!

I go to the bathhouse to heal my soul, so it’s no problem at all! If I get sweaty, I can just take another one when I get home.

Anyway, I’ve been using trial and error to find a great way to get to my sanctuary—the bathhouse—and I’d like to share it with you.

Use a washbasin as a basket.

When I head to the bath, I want to keep my luggage to an absolute minimum.
I thought, "Why not just use a washbasin as a basket?"

So, I gave it a try.

It’s surprisingly good...
A towel, some soap, and my keys.
That’s the three things I put in, and it still has plenty of room!
If you put the towel over the items, they don’t really fall out, even over bumps.

The rack I’m using is the WHOLE GRAIN CYCLES / Jack The Bike Rack.

I highly recommend it because it can be installed on so many different bikes!!
Since it attaches using the handlebar and stem, you can even install it on bikes that don’t have mounting eyelets on the fork!

*Please note: It is best to have 10mm of clear space on both sides of the stem, and at least 225mm of clearance from the center of the handlebar to the top of the front tire!

I’m currently planning a massive sento ride event!!
I’ll let you know the details soon.
When that happens, let’s go work up a good sweat together!

See you later!!
