Decoding the Blueprints of "Fun"
Of all the frames at WILDE, the Dark Star is the one where "mischief is taken seriously."
This hardtail can go anywhere and will make you laugh just as far.
The secret isn’t in how it looks, but in the design philosophy hidden deep within.
Now, let’s begin our customary "Decoding through Geometry" series.

Let's start with the question: "Why a hardtail now?"
Bikepacking, trail riding, jumping, city cruising, and sometimes hiking your bike. Modern riding styles are increasingly crossing boundaries and blending together freely.
In times like these, WILDE has dared to take the "slightly rustic but eternally fun" hardtail and beautifully update it for the modern era. That is the Dark Star.

66.5° Head Angle: The angle that creates that "I can do this" feeling on descents
The front end of the Dark Star is designed with a slack 66.5° head angle. Older riders might think, "Isn't that a bit too slack?" but this was designed with a 130mm travel suspension fork as the benchmark.
The benefits of modern trail geometry are immense,
and this angle firmly supports that moment when you think, "Whoa, I can actually do this!"
Moreover, it doesn't leave you over-reliant like a full-suspension bike. There is room for your own skills to play. That "perfect balance" is exactly what makes this bike so rewarding.

74.5° Seat Angle: Crisp pedaling and climbing power
On the other hand, the seat angle is quite steep at 74.5°.
This design was heavily focused on making it a "hardtail that climbs."
It reacts the moment you put power into the pedals and keeps fatigue low on long hauls.
The pedaling posture remains stable even when loaded with gear, making it perfect for bikepacking.
Once you ride it, you'll feel how smooth your leg rotation is and experience that sensation of wanting to keep pedaling.

425–440mm Chainstays: The joy of choosing "your own rear"
One of the unique points of the Dark Star is that you can adjust the chainstay length using the slider dropouts.
You can go with a quick, agile 425mm setting, or a 440mm setting that prioritizes stability.
In other words, it can handle everything from a single-speed setup to a geared tourer.
It is a bike where you can truly feel how much the character changes with the rear center adjustment.

Compatible up to 29×2.6": Ensuring capability and range for play
The Dark Star is designed with ample clearance to fit tires up to 29×2.6".
This not only enhances the sense of flotation and confidence on trail rides, but also contributes to performance when fully loaded for trips like bikepacking.
Furthermore, the combination with the dedicated "Future Proof Fork" is compelling.
With rack and fender mounts, you can set it up for long-distance touring.

"Future Proof": A design that you'll still be riding 10 years from now
Future Proof—preparation for the road ahead.
As the name suggests, the Dark Star has a design that won't be left behind by time.
- Boost hub standard
- BSA threaded bottom bracket
- UDH (Universal Derailleur Hanger) compatible
- Internal routing for dropper posts
And, the material is classic steel.
This design, where universal standards and the latest technology coexist, is the true essence of the Dark Star.

So, how is it really? Feedback from someone who switched from a Stumpjumper
We found this review on the official Wilde site:
"Switched from a (full-suspension) Stumpjumper, and I can't go back. It rides so well, and there’s a sense of hands-on maintenance that’s just plain fun."
Rather than stepping down from a full-sus, it's about the value of "choosing to go back to a hardtail." The Dark Star is a bike that truly embodies that experience.

Blueprints are drawn with intuition
Looking at the geometry of the Dark Star, it feels less like mere engineering and more like an "expression of sensibility."
The numbers tell not only of its performance but of the desire itself for how one wants to play.
This bike is more than just a means of transport.
It has had fun baked into it from the blueprint stage, all to draw out the rider’s own sense of play. We can state that with certainty.
