[BIKE of the WEEK] SKLAR Super Something V2

Since its debut in 2022, the ”SKLAR Super Something” has been one of the most popular all-road gravel bikes at Circles. After further updates, the Super Something V2 was completed last year.

This owner, who already has a road racer, ordered a free-spirited bike for relaxed touring.

Not One-of-a-Kind, but Packed With Adam's Attention to Detail and Originality: the ”Super Something V2″

Designed with versatility in mind so it can be loved for years, the ”Super Something V2″ also leaves plenty of freedom for parts customization, which shows that Adam designed it not for one specific person but as a bike for everyone.

Even though it's a production model, it uses different tubing for each size, along with original dropouts, front fork and head tube, and you can really feel Adam's own commitment to and passion for the SKLAR brand.

TOMII x SIMWORKS Faraway Tires, Set Up Tubeless-Ready.

The owner had mainly used clinchers until now, but this time chose tubeless-ready.

A 700×40C width lets you enjoy every benefit of tubeless-ready. Combined with the Super Something's inherent ride quality, the result is a bike with a superbly comfortable ride.

A Reliable Partner for Gravel Touring: MICRO SHIFT Sword

For shifting, the owner chose ”MICRO SHIFT Sword” bar-end shifters.

Living in Nagano Prefecture, the owner went with an 11-48T cassette with mountain climbs on tour in mind.

We often saw the first-generation Super Something built with bar-end shifters, and it left an impression that Adam himself built one with bar-end shifters to ride the Tour Divide (a trail running the length of the US). Being able to build it up like this is one of the great things about the Super Something.

For Brakes, a TRP RRL SR Brake Lever and PAUL Klamper Combination.

For mechanical brakes, the owner saw the real thing in the store and chose the PAUL COMPONENT / Klamper. Easy to take apart and clean, the Klamper is another part you can use for years to come. The accent of PAUL's signature orange is a nice touch, too.

For brake levers, the owner chose the TRP / RRL SR Brake Lever. Personally, I think the TRP RRL is one of the most comfortable to grip among brake levers without shifting functions.
With long use, the rubber on the brackets inevitably wears out, but replacement bracket covers have stayed on sale all this time, which is another reason I recommend them.

The Ideal Answer for Anyone Who Wants to Roam Freely on Paved and Unpaved Roads Alike

With front-end stiffness that keeps you on your line even on rough roads, and the comfortable ride that comes from steel's distinctive, moderate flex, it should be the ideal answer for anyone who wants to enjoy everything from pavement to dirt.

I felt it with the PBJ too, but SKLAR bikes seem to have a unique lightness to them. I took it for a test ride to check the finished build, and now I want to build one for myself...

We hope you enjoy it as your touring partner for many years to come.

The SKLAR Super Something V2 is on display at Circles and Circles Tailored, so please stop by the store to see it.

Finally, we've published a photo archive of the bikes we've built at Circles. Please take a look at that, too.

Enjoy your bike life, everyone!
