If you've ever ridden a fixed-gear bike, you know exactly what I mean.
There’s no ride more fun or effortless for cruising around town, zipping between people and cars, than one where you can feel the inertia transmitted from the pedals and control your speed with your legs.
Interested in that charm and looking for a bike for commuting and city riding, the owner chose the MASH Steel—a fixie from "MASH," the brand born in the heart of messenger culture in the U.S. that spread track bike culture across the globe.

Keeping it basic with future customization in mind
Since this is their first fixed-gear bike, they needed to get a feel for riding before knowing exactly what they’d want next. Because they were considering adding a front rack later on, we went with the SIMWORKS By NITTO Mowmow CrMo Bar. Its classic rise and backsweep offer both easy handling and a sense of stability from the way it supports your posture.
For tires, we chose 32c—a balanced width that allows for a nimble ride on the road while easily handling bumps and gravel. They are also highly puncture-resistant, providing reliable support for daily commutes.
We chose KUWAHARA cranks, which are in a sense perfect for this frame. The rugged design, typical of a BMX brand, matched the frame color perfectly.

Actually, not long after delivery, the owner already installed a front rack, bringing this MASH Steel one step closer to their vision.
It’ll be exciting to see how the owner feels about this MASH and how it continues to change in the future.
