The footbed lineup for BEDROCK SANDALS includes the Minimalist Footbed, a flat design that offers a sense of freedom close to being barefoot and allows you to feel the ground directly, and the 3D Footbed, which features contours at the base of the toes and the arch to provide solid support for the sole of the foot. I am a fan of both, and they play a vital role in every scene of my life, from hiking and running to, of course, cycling and casual everyday activities.
And that goes for the Mountain Clog as well, not just the Cairn series; if you include them, I probably wear some model of BEDROCK SANDALS for 300 out of 365 days a year. I have simply fallen in love with various elements of them, from their comfortable fit and excellent retention to their overall look.
With that in mind, I became very, very curious about the newly released Cairn Evo C—specifically about the thickness of the sole and the hold provided by the Y-strap, and what that combination feels like. I wouldn't go so far as to say I've "broken them in" yet, but I have started wearing them, and I'd like to share some of my initial thoughts.
Comfortable! The Cairn Evo C Features Fatigue-Free Cushioning
First, the thing you need to know is how comfortable the cushioning is. It has thickness, and the softness of the EVA foam footbed material is exceptional; even wearing them all day, they are just incredibly comfortable and keep you free from fatigue. While the sole thickness is similar to the Mountain Clog, the material is different, which leads to a different level of cushioning—they are softer and possess the best cushioning in the entire BEDROCK SANDALS lineup.
I used to think that thinness and lightness were the gold standard for sandals like these, but once you experience this level of comfort, you might find it hard to go back. I haven't used them for outdoor activities yet, but my expectations are growing by the day.
The other day, someone who runs in homemade huarache sandals asked me for advice, saying, "My soles get tired from running on pavement for long periods, so I want a sandal with great cushioning that I can run in." I definitely want them to try out the Cairn Evo C. Of course, my own desire to "run in the Cairn Evo C!" is growing, so I'll be sure to report back once I've had a chance to run in them.

Furthermore, thanks to that comfort, it’s easier for people who haven’t worn this type of sandal before to accept them, making them clearly better suited for daily use. And that sense of volume feels like it pairs better with casual styles. It doesn't hurt that a little volume on your feet improves the overall balance of an outfit, too.
I’m currently at Circles Tokyo, and with so many fashionable shops in the neighborhood, it's perhaps only natural that I’d feel that way.
I haven't spent enough time with them yet to provide a really deep analysis, but there is no doubt that they are a quality product.

Oh, and as I mentioned the other day, this Cairn Evo series has a wider toe box, so while the sizing feels slightly different, you can choose the same size you've used previously. Unless you are strictly looking for lightness or running, having a little extra room in the toe area is perfectly fine.
