For my birthday, I want to ride my bike to go have a BBQ.

Hello, I’m Eri, part of the Circles Web Shop and photography team.

Every year for my birthday, I host a personal "ride to eat something delicious" event. For 2024, continuing from the previous year, I chose the theme: "Let's go to a BBQ by bicycle only!" Since we started carrying OMNIUM cargo bikes at Circles, I felt there was no other choice but to go with an OMNIUM!

Which bikes did we take?

OMNIUM Mini

I borrowed an XS-size OMNIUM Mini, which usually works hard as a utility bike at Pine Fields Market. While cargo bikes often conjure images of huge frames, the Mini is compact and easy to maneuver, making it the perfect size for parking in my usual spots without any hassle. With a 700c rear wheel, the large tire provides a reassuring sense of power as you pedal along. It just feels like a regular bike that happens to be great at carrying a lot of cargo.

OMNIUM Mini-Max

The Mini-Max XS has a shorter wheelbase than the larger Cargo model, making it even more compact. A 100-liter Patagonia Black Hole Duffle fits perfectly on the front rack, and the bike remains rock-solid and stable no matter how many drinks and snacks you pile onto it.

It’s the perfect size for someone who always has a lot of cargo but wants to zip around town with ease.

AHEARNE CYCLES

A Costco cooler bag fits perfectly into the Ahearne’s front basket, which pairs beautifully with SIMWORKS’ Ramble Bar and the WALD Giant Delivery Basket. The wide Ramble Bar makes it easy to maintain balance even with a heavy load, making it an ideal handlebar for a cargo bike.
We bought so much stuff, but it was no problem at all!

Despite the surprise discovery that the Shonai Ryokuchi Park BBQ area was closed for construction (this has happened before, so I recommend checking in advance!), we all brought various items and enjoyed a peaceful, chill time together. Filling the bellies and spirits of ten people with just three cargo bikes made me feel that this year is going to be a good one!

Cargo bikes, which excel at sharing experiences with others, naturally bring people together. Pushing yourself hard on a bike in solitude is a classic cycling experience, but I imagine a future where these versatile, free-spirited cargo bikes—with their power to involve everyone—are a common sight on city streets will be truly exciting.

Let’s have fun on our bikes again this year!
