I’m a huge hat lover myself, and I enjoy wearing all sorts of hats throughout the year. Just putting on a hat can completely change your look, right? While hats are essential as everyday fashion and, of course, for sun protection during rides, there’s one brand that is particularly popular among our staff: VELO SPICA.
From that very brand, we’ve just received a super cute cap that we highly recommend for fishing enthusiasts!
VELO SPICA
VELO SPICA is a hat brand launched in 2014, based in Tokyo and specializing in cycling caps. Even though they are specialists in cycling caps, every item is highly fashionable and perfect for everyday use!
Beyond just looking good, these caps are incredibly functional. You might think, "Functionality in a cap?" but it’s actually a crucial point, packed with the dedication only a specialized cycling cap manufacturer can provide.
3 Reasons Why They’re Great
- Flip-up Visor
A must-have feature of VELO SPICA is the flip-up visor (where you flip the brim up when you want to widen your field of vision). This flip-up function is super handy when wearing a cap under a helmet. Plus, it’s useful in little moments like when you're looking through a camera viewfinder or adjusting wheel truing (lol).
- Lightweight, Durable, and They Float
Lightweight, quick-drying, durable, and water-repellent. And they even float on water... Most of their caps have these features. They are great not only for daily life but also for use by the water, and the fact that they’re washable when they get dirty is a huge plus.

F.U.B Cap Combination
We’ve received some super cute caps this year too!
With a design that exudes a vintage vibe, this is the F.U.B Cap Combination, inspired by the cap of a fictional fishing tournament called the "VELO Spica Fishing Tournament." The traditional 6-panel design gives it a great feel. The design was created by EDIT design and supply, led by Kantoku, a longtime friend of Circles.
Available in two colors: Beige and Brown.
Actually, the type of brim is slightly different. The beige one uses a "FLEX VISOR," while the brown one introduces a new "SEMI-RIGID VISOR." The "SEMI-RIGID VISOR" is one level stiffer than the "FLEX VISOR."
The material of the brim is also different for each. The beige has a suede-like finish for a soft look, while the brown has a leather-like texture for a classic atmosphere. Both are made of vegan leather (synthetic leather), so they are washable.
The way the vegan leather develops a weathered look as you use it is one of the fun things about this cap.
A must-have for fishing fans
I feel like there’s another fishing boom (I’ve lost track of how many) happening recently. Shige-san, the Sanpei of Circles, couldn't help himself and bought both colors. lol
Designing a cap for a fictional fishing tournament is such a playful idea, don’t you think? Just wearing this gives me a feeling that I’ll catch a big one.
