Not just for commuting or riding around town, but maybe taking it a bit further on the weekends or joining an event.
At a time when you start thinking like that, I imagine many of you might be curious about SURLY.
Following my little chat about SURLY and the blog post about the Disc Trucker I introduced the other day, I am currently introducing each model one by one, including the Preamble and the Grappler. If you've been feeling a little curious, please be sure to check those out as well.
Is it hard to start by building from a frame?
That said, when you actually think, "I want to ride a SURLY!", many of you might feel confused about how to buy one after seeing only frames hanging in the shop.
The completed bikes you often see at bike shops are easy to choose because they are already packaged, but because SURLY believes in "letting as many people as possible enjoy cycling freely," they have long maintained a style of building based on framesets rather than complete bikes.
While it offers high flexibility and the fun of pursuing your own ideals, there are many tricky points for beginners, like "What parts do I need?", "How do I combine them?", and "Which one suits me best?"
In fact, we have heard those exact concerns at our shop.
About this SURLY Fair
For this fair, we have prepared base packages that are easy to choose from based on how you ride, using SURLY frames for those considering their first bike.
Dates: 5/8 (Fri) - 5/31 (Sun) Location: Circles Store
We've kept the freedom of building from a frame while providing recommended configurations for the foundational parts of your ride, such as the wheels and drivetrain!
On top of that, you can choose parts that affect comfort and appearance, like saddles, tires, and handlebars, to suit your preferences and how you use the bike.
It’s not about high or low prices, but choosing based on how you want to ride—whether it's for commuting, weekend rides, travel, or gravel!
"Do I have to decide everything myself?" "How do I know what’s the right choice?"
To reduce those anxieties, we've prepared a base that allows you to start with peace of mind!
Please feel free to consult with us.
First, come by the shop and tell us how you want to ride!
It could be that you mainly commute or ride around town, or that you want to try riding a little further on weekends. Or maybe you want to join events like Mori-Michi Market or OMM, or even just say, "I'm not sure if I can do it, but I want to try riding around Lake Biwa!" That’s perfectly fine too.
Starting with your input, let’s think together about the bike that suits you best, based on your wishes and requests! A typical consultation, including choosing parts, takes about an hour.
To ensure we have enough time for you when you visit, please make a reservation via the link below!
Rather than just "buying a finished product," a SURLY bike is one you build up bit by bit to match your own riding style.
Something that started as a commuter might find itself joining you on weekend rides or events before you know it. I think that way in which your riding style expands is part of the fun.
Even if you’re just "a little curious," that’s absolutely fine.
Let’s think about how you'll have fun in the future and choose your first bike together!
We look forward to seeing you at the shop!
For those far away, don't worry. You can, of course, also consult with Circles Tokyo! If you live in the Kanto area, please feel free to send a DM to the Tokyo store's Instagram.
