That thrilling feeling of straddling a new bike is much like the joy of being able to pedal a bicycle for the very first time.
Not long after I ordered a Sklar Bikes for myself, a bike that had been in consultation took shape. I asked Adam to build a rigid-fork, bike-packing-ready MTB with the idea of creating a versatile machine that could handle everything from camping rides like RIDEALIVE to weekend trail rides in the mountains.

With its 29-inch wheels and rigid fork, this custom bike is tailored for the Japanese style of touring that connects on-road and off-road sections. It’s also built with the future in mind, allowing for the addition of a suspension fork and 27.5+ tires to comfortably rip through the trails.

The shakedown took place on some local dirt trails.
Even without suspension, the dynamic ride afforded by the 29-inch wheels makes tearing through trails a genuinely fun experience. The owner was also thrilled with the bike's high potential, noting how easily it handles paved roads as well. By spending more time in the saddle of this bike, the rider will be able to see scenery they’ve never encountered before.
This smile says it all.
And it’s a good reminder that, indeed, the mountains are fun.
