【SKLAR Super Something】Updated in pursuit of comfort and exhilaration!

Relaxed, wherever you go.

We built this SKLAR BICYCLES Super Something to fulfill the owner’s wish for a bike that could handle everything from commuting to rides in the mountains—a bike that lets them take it slow and steady at their own pace, moving through paved roads, dirt paths, and any route in between.

Initially, that vision led us to choose 650b wheels fitted with ULTRADYNAMICO Rose Race 650b x 47.99…mm tires.

It was also set up with flat handlebars.

Three years have passed since delivery, and the bike has been a trusty companion to its owner on everything from commutes to weekend rides.

However, through continued riding, the owner began to see a new ideal.

"I want to make it a bike that’s a little faster and more exhilarating to ride," they said.

Updating for comfort and excitement!

Following that request, we refreshed the wheels, sizing up from 650b to 700c.

Additionally, the owner has been using a dynamo hub and front light on another bike and found themselves hooked on the convenience.

This was the perfect time to build new wheels and make the switch to a dynamo system.

Furthermore, we decided to make the rear light a dynamo-powered unit as well.

While there were no particular complaints about the riding position or handlebars, the owner decided to switch to the SKLAR BIKES PBJ Handle Bar, which they had been interested in since it was released.

And, deciding that a front rack would be convenient to have, we added one of those as well.

And that’s how this bike was completed.

SON NABENDYNAMO for the hub!

For the hub, we used the SON NABENDYNAMO SON28 12 Disc Center Lock Hub Thru Axle, which we frequently use at Circles Tailored. As we mentioned in our blog recently, we stock these highly reliable dynamo hubs because they offer exceptional functionality and durability.

For the dynamo lights, we installed SINEWAVE CYCLES products on both the front and rear.

Introducing SINEWAVE CYCLES!

SINEWAVE CYCLES is a dynamo light brand from Milwaukee, USA.
They develop products that harness the electricity generated by dynamo hubs like SON or SHUTTER PRECISION to power not just lights, but also USB-charged devices.

Their simple, stripped-down design and high durability fit a wide range of riding styles, from daily commutes to long-distance touring and bikepacking.

They are a brand that embodies the freedom unique to cycling: "generating power by riding."

SINEWAVE Beacon 2 for the front light

The SINEWAVE Beacon 2 is one of the most refined dynamo-powered front lights available.
It features a well-balanced beam pattern that provides plenty of brightness for night riding while preventing glare for oncoming traffic and pedestrians.

Furthermore, with its built-in USB charging feature, it can power smartphones or GPS devices while you ride.
It is perfectly suited for long-distance touring or bikepacking—styles that are all about "keeping on moving."

The simple, robust machined aluminum body is reliable even in harsh environments.
It’s not flashy, but it has the charm of a tool you’ll want to use for years to come.

Taillight for the rear light

The SINEWAVE Taillight is a rear light powered by your dynamo, just like the front.
Despite its compact size, it offers high visibility, ensuring safety on the road from city streets to long-distance touring.

The minimalist design typical of SINEWAVE integrates naturally without ruining the bike's overall look.
And because you don't have to worry about battery levels like you do with rechargeable lights, you get the daily peace of mind that it’s "always ready to go."

From daily commuting to travel.
This is a highly practical rear light that will truly resonate with those who see their bicycle as a daily tool.

What about those 700c wheels!?

For the wheels, we introduced the ASTRAL CYCLING Outback Rim and a CHRIS KING R45D rear hub.

It’s a highly reliable combination that can keep rolling steadily over long distances.

And for tires, we went with the WTB Nano TCS Light.
It’s a true classic, a model that has been around since long before the gravel tire category was as mainstream as it is today.

While the center uses a knob configuration to minimize rolling resistance, the sides provide solid grip.
The balance between nimbleness on paved roads and the peace of mind to naturally transition onto unpaved paths is excellent.

"Without being too conscious of the boundary between on-road and gravel, you can just head straight into the roads that catch your interest.
The Nano is a tire that suits that kind of free riding style perfectly."

SIMWORKS Obento Rack for the front

As the name ("Obento" or "lunch box") implies, this front rack is the perfect size for everyday use and touring, making it one of our go-to racks.

It hasn’t been long since we finished the custom work and delivered the bike, but there is no doubt that it will make daily commuting comfortable and weekend rides exhilarating.
