【SKLAR BIKES】Tall Tale Pre-order Information

The second production frame following the Super Something!

A new production model from SKLAR BIKES has been released: the Tall Tale hardtail MTB! This is an announcement for pre-orders.

The year before last, SKLAR BIKES released their very first production model, the Super Something. This second installment is a hardtail MTB that represents Adam's own roots and the very spark that started it all for SKLAR BIKES.

Early prototype unveiled at MADE last summer

A trail bike that serves as the origin for Adam and the brand

We reunited with builder Adam at MADE last summer; as it turns out, he has since moved to Oakland, California, and just opened a new workshop while maintaining his Bozeman base. (Word has it that Matt from PASS AND STOW shares the same building, so we'd love to visit sometime!)

Moving forward, SKLAR BIKES will stop offering custom order windows for handmade frames and instead focus on batch production runs, operating under two pillars: handmade production and Taiwanese-made production. As this shift to becoming a small-production frame brand begins in earnest, the Tall Tale, which was displayed as a prototype at MADE, is finally heading into production.

The mountain bike is where it all began for SKLAR BIKES and Adam. Over the past decade of designing and building hundreds of custom mountain bikes, Sklar Bikes has established a solid reputation for pioneering advanced, modern mountain bike geometry.

Through experimentation with long and low geometry, we've learned a lot about how to make a hardtail mountain bike not only incredibly high-performing but also approachable—the kind of bike that knows how to be fun. You don't have to sacrifice playfulness or agility in the pursuit of speed.

Chasing speed is fun, but chasing fun is even more fun. The Tall Tale's geometry embraces many advanced concepts specifically tailored to that pursuit of fun; while based on the most progressive geometry, the design is firmly rooted in the realm of enjoyment and approachability.

If you look up the term "tall tale" in a dictionary:

tall tale:a story or fact that is difficult to believe

https://dictionary.cambridge.org/ja/dictionary/english/tall-tale

It means a story or fact that is hard to believe, but when I asked Adam about it, he mentioned it can also mean "a story based on fact, but with bits added by someone else."

That is exactly the feeling you get when you come back down from the trails and tell your friends just how much fun you had; the Tall Tale is a bike truly built for sharing those kinds of fun stories.

The Tall Tale is the perfect tool for a quick ride with friends after work or for spending an entire day on a big weekend adventure. It features a perfect balance of aggressive new-school geometry and the familiar comfort needed for all-day riding. It’s not the kind of bike that rips downhills like a 6-inch trail bike but struggles on the climb, nor is it the kind that climbs easily like an XC race bike but lacks stability on the descent.

By refining the geometry and materials to excel at everything, this mountain bike, the Tall Tale, truly hits the "sweet spot" for enjoying the trails.

We are now accepting pre-orders!

The frames are expected to arrive around June in two colors: Pumpkin Pie and Kale Salad. Circles is now officially opening pre-orders.

Since production numbers are limited, we expect the number of stock frames arriving in the country to be very low. If you're interested, placing a pre-order now is the best way to ensure you get one, so please consider it!
