To those of you participating in RIDE ALIVE! Have you started your preparations yet? You need to start getting ready soon, or you might find that the parts and items you want won't arrive by the big day!
We’ve introduced some parts, items, and facilities before, but aren't you starting to get curious about something else by now?
Like, "What kind of bikes are the Circles staff taking?"!
Of course, all the staff members have been giving it plenty of thought.
I've seen staff members quietly building up new bikes for RIDE ALIVE, and others grinning to themselves while rebuilding their wheels after store hours recently (lol).
Truth be told, I’m one of them.
And so, my touring bike was finished the other day, so I’d like to introduce it!
That said, it’s not a brand-new bike; I repainted the frame of a SURLY CROSS CHECK I’ve owned for a while and transferred over components and other parts I already had.
The only new parts are the rack, tires, and bar tape, but it made me realize once again how much a bike can be reborn like new just by cleaning the parts and repainting the frame.
If your beloved bike's frame is covered in scratches or you just want a change of pace, I highly recommend an overhaul and frame repaint!
The rack is the Sim-Works ON THE ROAD.
It’s made by bending a single chromoly tube, making it both light and durable. And above all, it looks cool!
I’m still agonizing over which pannier bags to mount on it.
The tires are WTB CROSS WOLF 700-32c.
These are true all-rounders that perform well on-road, off-road, in dry, or in wet conditions.
My impression from riding them is that the cornering grip is incredibly good.
Plus, since they are tubeless-ready, they have the performance to be used extensively in CX races as well.
Well, now all that’s left is for me to shed some weight, and I'll be ready! (Will I make it in time!?)
