God is in the details.

There is something about Sycip bikes that feels gentle.

I believe this is because anyone who has met Jeremy Sycip knows that his personality is firmly reflected in the bicycles he builds.

In Santa Rosa, California, he spends his days holding a torch, crafting custom bikes for everyone from racers and messengers to true cycling enthusiasts. He works with steel and titanium, as well as aluminum (he is one of the few builders among our friends in California who works with custom aluminum), and his reputation in the industry is rock solid, as evidenced by his work on OEM projects for Mountain Goat and his skills as a TIG welder. According to Oscar, from the Cielo building team, there is no builder who can execute TIG welding as accurately and quickly as Jeremy. By the way, it is worth mentioning here that Jeremy’s mentor is none other than the master builder Rock Lobster.

The coin embedded in the seat stay is the hallmark of the bikes he builds. His bikes perfectly balance his sense of humor with his seriousness.

There is no doubt that his life-long experience of riding bikes and playing in the mountains—which are relatively easy to access from where he lives—is a major driving force behind his creations. Once again, a bike has been finished that reminds us of the joy of playing in the mountains.

The cockpit features a combination of Hunter Cycles' Smooth Move bars and a Thomson stem. Naturally, the 44mm head tube is compatible with tapered steerer forks.

The front fork uses a 15mm thru-axle, and the rear uses a 142mm spacing with a 12mm thru-axle. With Chris King ISO hubs, you can choose the model that fits your frame, whether it requires quick-release or thru-axle.

For the pedals, we chose Crankbrothers Mallets for their larger surface area, which is highly effective for trail riding.

This bike was ordered by someone who discovered the joy of riding dirt after starting with cyclocross. It’s getting warmer, but it’s still a great season for mountain riding. Personally, I am convinced that this bike will change the way you spend your winters. Mountain biking offers a different kind of fun than road riding; it comes with its share of troubles—you might break something or take a spill—but by immersing yourself in nature, staying close to it, and pedaling along, you’ll discover a whole new view.
