I recently went to the Motocross International exhibition. When it comes to Motocross, they are a wholesaler that Nagoya is proud of. Their annual exhibition is also held right here in Nagoya, so for us with a shop in their home territory, it’s a big advantage.
I wasted no time checking out various items.
Salsa suggests ways to enjoy adventure riding. Among their lineup, the Colossal is the one that makes you want to ride faster and further.
Surprisingly, starting this year, it adopts a 15mm front thru-axle (the trend that Giant started last year is slowly spreading). Along with this change, while previous models featured an Enve fork, this year they’ve moved to an original carbon fork. By the way, the Colossal Ti reportedly uses a 12mm thru-axle in the rear as well.
With a robust front end that can handle the stopping power of disc brakes, you can ride on dirt with confidence.
The clearance is up to 700x30c, or 28c with fenders... wait, with fenders?!
That’s right. Actually, with this minor change, fender eyelets have been added. And they’re replaceable, too.
There is a small tap on the back of the front fork.
As shown in the photo, the replaceable fender eyelets are attached.
The rear is the same.
As Salsa says, "All-Road Machine" is a fitting name for this bike, but with the addition of disc brakes and the ability to mount fenders, it’s truly an all-weather all-rounder. Pack the bare essentials into a large saddlebag or frame bag and head out to wherever the road takes you.
For those of you who are more "old-school" and think, "I don’t need fenders or mounts," or for those still attracted to the included Enve fork, we actually still have some previous models in stock, so please feel free to consult us. We might even be able to offer a special deal.
And from Surly, there’s a new fat bike called the Ice Cream Truck, but the bike that really caught my eye is this one.
If you recognized it by the color, you’ve got a sharp eye. It’s the Straggler. At first glance, you might think there hasn't been a color change, but...
Starting this year, a 650B size model is available!
Among the size lineup, the 38cm, 42cm, 46cm, and 50cm models will be released in Japan first.
This sizing is great because even smaller riders can build a well-balanced bike. I’ve already ordered a 38cm frameset, so if you’re a woman who has been struggling with finding the right size, please come talk to us. I’d love to build a practical bike with an Alivio setup and flat bars.
You can also view the 2015 catalog in the shop, so feel free to drop by!
On this day, shops from various places in the east and west came to visit during the exhibition.
It had been a while since I last saw Mr. ASHI from Blue Lug, and he was as lean as ever.
Mr. ASHI, could you please stop putting sticker bombs in places I can’t reach just because I’m short?! (lol)
