[Circles Exclusive] Our Black Catalog

I’ve heard that in the past, silver was the standard for bicycle parts, and black was a rarity—something to be admired.
Yet, that dynamic has long since reversed; today, black dominates almost every component available.

However, I started to wonder if there were still places where the black color hadn’t fully taken hold. I set out to find things that could be turned black, as if filling every square on an Othello board.

So, with that as our catalyst, we’ve archived these items—our exclusive Black Series, found nowhere else in the world but here at Circles—into what we call Our Black Catalog. Please, take a moment to flip through the pages of this catalog.

This is an orthodox bag supporter style favored by randonneurs riding what we would call classic bicycles today.

It features a simple design that can be secured to the seatpost and rear stays.
By using the included clip bands, it can also be mounted on frames without rack eyelets.

Not only does it support your saddlebag and keep it from rubbing against the tires, but it can also serve as a simple top rack.

Perfect for everything from daily use to weekend touring, it’s built to last.

NITTO B604AAF

【NITTO】 B604AAF Black

Width: 530mm
Rise: 68mm
Depth (sweep): 198mm
Bar clamp: 25.4mm
Grip diameter: 22.2mm

Price: 5,940 JPY (tax included)

The B604AAF is an improved version of the popular B602AA promenade handlebar.
The bar clamp area features a double-pipe structure while the rest of the tube is thinner; the width has been increased from 490mm to 530mm, which extends the grip area from 140mm to 145mm.
This opens up more options for grips, allowing for even more diverse bike builds than before.

The rise is a substantial 68mm—roughly the same as a clunker bar.

Furthermore, because it’s thinner than the B602AA, you have more choices for brakes, including opposite levers that extend from the end of the bar. And that means bar-end shifters are also an option...

NITTO B622AA

【NITTO】 B622AA Black

Width: 550mm
Rise: 0mm
Depth (sweep): 160mm
Clamp diameter: 25.4mm
Bar diameter: 22.2mm

Price: 5,060 JPY (tax included)

The B622AA is a very simple bow-shaped promenade bar. It really is just a flat handlebar bent into a bow, but that unique shape creates a distinct atmosphere. The arc allows for a very natural grip angle.

It brings back fond memories of the bike belonging to a girl I once liked, which I had the chance to tinker with. It gives off a unique vibe that feels like a beach cruiser but isn't quite, so I personally recommend putting these on a track bike!

Silver parts or black for your bike?

This may be an eternal question that leaves much to debate. There’s no doubt that the spread of color anodizing technology has given us a joyful, unending source of agonizing over our beloved rides.

However, aren't the basic components of a bicycle usually either silver or black?

Now that so many of the parts we rely on as a base (hubs, components, etc.) have shifted to black, wouldn't incorporating classic items in black result in a bike with a great neo-classic feel?

Why not go find your black?

In the movie *Interstellar*, Cooper jumps into a black hole—a singularity—driven by the love of protecting his daughter's future, even while his deep scientific curiosity about the universe pulled him in the same direction.

We are the same. We’ve thought about how to make your bikes comfortable without sacrificing their coolness, but at the same time, we have our own desires—we want these parts for ourselves too!

We might not have a secret book filled with magic spells, but we do have a *Black Catalog* to help make your bike look cool.

So, in Our Black Catalog, we’ve gathered all the exclusive black items we’ve introduced so far. Come and find your favorite shade of black!
