We are excited to announce that we have restocked racks from PASS AND STOW, the Oakland, California-based handmade bike rack maker, for the first time in about two years!

These front racks are lovingly handmade one by one by the creator himself, Matthew Feeney.

While some frame builders create custom racks specifically for their own handmade frames, the fact that Matthew focuses exclusively on handmade racks makes him a truly invaluable presence in the culture we are so devoted to.

With the MADE Bike Show just a month away, we hear they will have a booth right next to SimWorks, and we are already looking forward to catching up with them.
So, let’s take a moment to review the features of the PASS AND STOW rack.
Durable and lightweight hollow chromoly tubing

Designed for any use—cargo, commuting, touring, or bike packing—many who pick up these racks are surprised by how light they are, contrary to their rugged appearance.
By using hollow chromoly tubing, they provide the durability needed for hauling loads while remaining light enough to be practical without concern.

They pair great with a WALD basket, or you can go for the San Francisco-representative style by mounting an OUTER SHELL / Rack Bag—also from the Bay Area—directly to the rack.
We highly recommend experiencing the comfort of being liberated from the grueling act of carrying a bag on your back during these hot summer months.
Internal dynamo routing and cargo cage mounts

Another unique feature of these racks, thanks to the hollow tubing, is that they allow for internal cable routing for hub dynamos.

A hub dynamo is incredibly convenient for daily commuters and tourers alike, so being able to wire it so smartly is a great bonus.

Additionally, the racks we received this time all come with optional cargo cage mounts. You can attach cargo cages like the iconic King Cage Manything Cage, allowing you to expand your carrying capacity for touring and bike packing setups.
3-Rail or 5-Rail? / Which leg size?
The top deck comes in two sizes: 3-Rail and 5-Rail.
While you can choose based on what kind of cargo you intend to carry, you can also select one based on the bike it will be installed on.

The 3-Rail Rack is recommended for drop-bar bikes. The classic style is to pair it with panniers for a touring setup.

If you need more carrying capacity or are installing it on a flat-bar bike, the 5-Rail Rack is the way to go. It handles everything from daily commuting to camp touring.

Also, the legs come in two lengths, Standard and Tall:
Standard (approx. 368mm from eyelet to deck): Compatible with 26″, 650B, and tires up to 700x35c.
Tall (approx. 387mm from eyelet to deck): Compatible with larger tires, 700x35c and above, or 29ers. (Please note that these are not compatible with fat bikes.)
Please choose the size based on the tire size you use and the fork length of your front fork.
※ If a specific leg size or color is out of stock, it might still be possible to assemble one from parts, so please feel free to contact us.
