【KAKUOZAN LARDER × Circles】”WALL DESTROY”

The view that lies beyond breaking down the wall.

On breaking down walls.

This February.
Together with our trusted carpenter, we swung hammers and pry bars to tear down the second-floor wall we had intentionally built 17 years ago.

Amidst this literal "destruction and creation" to expand our shop and move toward a new chapter, one person’s face kept coming to mind.

Kakuozan in Nagoya.
A place where food, fashion, and culture all rise together.
Niwa-kun, the owner of KAKUOZAN LARDER.

He is a man of great sense, but he is also a man of persistence. He possesses a strength that can only be forged by staying on the front lines and keeping his hands at work.

A peer and a comrade-in-arms.

Our connection goes back to the year Early Birds Breakfast, located next to Circles, was born.

Keita, the owner of Early Birds, and Niwa-kun are "peers" who took their health department hygiene certification on the same day in the same place.
The bond formed there has now grown into a relationship where we sweat together every year as “SNEAKS” at the Mori, Michi, Ichiba festival.

And personally, he is a neighbor living in the same town, and I am one of his fans.

I can say with certainty that Niwa-kun is a massive workaholic. His wife, Reiko, is there every morning without fail at sunrise, doing prep work and getting the shop ready.

While it may seem simple, keeping that up is not easy. That accumulation of effort is what supports the strength of a place like Kakuozan Larder.

We have been watching that all along.

“WALL DESTROY”

The base for this design was created six years ago when he expanded his own shop.

The euphoria he felt when he broke down the wall himself.
A graphic that expresses that with Larder’s own bit of humor.

I still remember the feeling I had back then, thinking, "They beat me to it."

That is why, for our renewal at Circles, I made a special request to him to have this “WALL DESTROY” produced again as a special edition.

How people interpret this is up to them.
But for us, it carries a slightly different meaning.

Tinker with the status quo, break it, and rebuild it again.
That repetition is the only way a space becomes truly interesting.

We’ve been doing it all along, and we will keep doing it.
This shirt is an extension of that journey.

To our comrades who have been building things on the ground for over a decade.
With the utmost respect.

And even beyond that, another wall is waiting.

That is why, I suppose.
We just can't stop.
