There are countless types of handlebars out there, aren't there? That’s right, cyclists are on a never-ending journey to find the perfect one among the stars. The item that gave my own journey a temporary rest is the HUNTER CYCLES Smooth Move Bar. By the way, the bike I have it installed on is my MASH city track bike.

What is back sweep?
The signature feature of the Smooth Move bar is its generous back sweep. If you look at the comparison image below, you'll see it means the bar pulls back toward the rider quite a bit. Thanks to this, your riding posture stays upright rather than leaning forward, taking the weight off your wrists and making for a comfortable ride.
Until now, I had been using a flat bar with very little back sweep. Handlebars with a flatter angle make it easier to build up speed and are fun to ride, but—being a heavier guy—I found the posture and the strain on my wrists to be tough.
But then I switched to this handlebar with its large back sweep angle, and surprise, surprise—the pain vanished! (lol)
I've prepared a comparison image of the back sweep. You’ll be surprised at how much difference even a slight change in angle can make.

Smooth Move bars also offer a choice of rise
With the Smooth Move, you can choose the amount of rise (height) of the handlebar. The greater the rise, the more upright your upper body will be, resulting in a more comfortable riding position.
After considering the balance between the sensation of speed from a forward-leaning posture and a comfortable ride, I opted for the low rise. For those who want an even more relaxed, laid-back ride, I recommend the high rise!

While these are originally MTB handlebars, enjoying ups and downs and speed is just as much a part of city riding. Once you find the perfect match for your bike, they deliver exceptional comfort.

This handlebar was designed by Rick Hunter. A 15° back sweep is the optimal solution he arrived at, and the design philosophy of these bars is that your riding posture should be adjusted using the rise.
I really hope those who feel their city bike setup is too aggressive, or those wandering in the maze of flat handlebars, will give these a try and experience the benefits of this 15° angle!
